King: Invest more in education to help Muslims

KUALA LUMPUR: The lack of investment in education is a problem that continues to trouble the local Muslim community, said the King.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin said the problem must be rectified to ensure the Muslim community was not left behind.

“The issue has been identified as important to Muslims in terms of community development,” Tuanku Mizan said when opening the inaugural Malaysian Islamic Religious Council congress here yesterday.

The King hoped the Islamic Education Coordination Advisory Board (Lepai) would play a bigger role alongside the respective Islamic state religious councils.

“The role and power of Lepai, which comes under the Council of Rulers, must be clarified so that religious education is implemented in a systematic and proper manner,” Tuanku Mizan said.

Some 1,000 participants are attending the two-day congress, which is jointly organised by the Islamic Development Department and state Islamic religious councils.

KUALA LUMPUR: Here is a piece of good news for vernacular and mission schools.

The country's top business tycoons have set up a charity foundation, known as the Community Chest, that would meet the educational needs of the Chinese and Indian communities.

The fund, which would have at least RM100mil a year, would benefit Chinese and Tamil-national type schools and mission schools in the country.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who launched the fund Monday, lauded the move saying it was a creative solution to ensure quality education in the country,

The Community Chest will be managed by a Board of Trustees and chaired by Genting Malaysia chairman and chief executive Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay.

Sixty -one schools nationwide received the initial round of funding totaling RM26.1mil Monday.

"PETALING JAYA: Penang Wanita MCA wants to know why not a single state Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) project was given to Chinese contractors.

Its chairman Tan Cheng Liang said she believed the Chinese contractors had submitted tender applications for the projects.

"Has the state deemed their applications incomplete.

"I am aghast and unable to comprehend why isn't a single contract awarded to a Chinese contractor," said Tan in response to Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's statement on July 27, that contractors in all five districts for the DID projects were Malays, bumiputras and Indian Muslims of which women accounted for 20%."

Closer inspection and deeper incision into the report would reveal DAP gives the cuci longkang projects to Malays, Bumiputeras and Indian Muslims (the bigger juicier projects we do not know lah). And even then the MCA wants the Chinese to get a cut...talk about racial-free society...bah humbug...wake up!

"KUALA LUMPUR: MIC President Datuk G. Palanivel has asked the government to free the six Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) leaders who have been detained under the Emergency Ordinance since July 2.

“I spoke to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak several days ago and have asked him to release them,” he told reporters Thursday.

He said the detention of the six has continued to receive local and international condemnation and this is the first time a Member of Parliament has been detained under the EO.

Palanivel said their continued detention may have an impact on Barisan Nasional in the coming general elections.

Palanivel said their detention was damaging to the country. Sungai Siput MP Dr Michael Jeyakumar and five others, M Sarasvathy, Choo Chon Kai, M Sukumaran, R Saratbabu and A Letchumanan were arrested on June 26 and were detained under the EO on July 2."

I am sick and tired of this, hence I am going to do something about it!

I have a business, owned by several Malays. Owners 100% Malay, Directors 100% Malays, Top Management 90% Malay, Middle Mangaement 80%. Pendek kata, semua Melayulah!

Our business is good, growing by an average 10% PER MONTH! We have a license from the Auhority. We compete with international players and we are one of the leaders in the industry. We have product range which is almost second to none in Malaysia. All Malay made!

We are growing so fast, we needed cash. We needed help. And that cash is not to buy cars and all those crap, but buy stocks coz the demand was so great. Who helped us? NO ONE! Not a single soul, not a single agency.

I had a chat with my friend the other day and he was lamenting on how some Malays created during Tun Mahathir's time had failed us. How the system was abused to create some of these jokers. I told him, he is being typical melayu. Asyik sibuk nak lihat keburukan dan kegagalan orang lain, tapi dia sendiri langsung tidak melakukan apa apa untuk membantu Melayu membangun. My company's application for financing with his 'malay owned' firm is still not through. Talk is cheap, do something.

I had enough and vowed that I will make a difference. I will start my own fund to help fellow malay businessman. Soon, in the not so distant future, a melayu can come to me to grow his business and I WILL NOT BE ASHAMED to help a Malay. Biarlah sikit pun, janji I AM DOING SOMETHING rather than just talking.

Today is the start of my (PMEF) Fund and I pledge RM1,000 into it. you can laugh at the amount...but what have YOU done lately??

No Subsidy - A no-brainer solution?

It was just last week, I was sitting down with my business partner interviewing a potential marketing head for our business. The boy looks promising and full of vigour. A good start.

I asked him a question "How would you increase my sales?" His Answer was to pour a lot of money into marketing. More sales? More money.

I told him, that is obvious, i.e No brainer. The tricky part (and the value-add) would be to increase the sales with less money in marketing. To be creative with the obstacles. That would be a smart move worthy of the high pay he was demanding.

When the Government announced the removal of subsidy as a solution, it immediately struck me that this is another NO BRAINER solution. No mention of the social obligations that necessitates the subsidy, no mention of the mispalcement of subsidies to the rich and a host of other things that could have been done before resorting to such sweeping policy.

I guess I can draw inference from the latest MIC saga where the Sec-Gen of MIC had rightly put it - a lot of other things could have been done before resorting to the presenditial act. The government has power to remove subsidies, but a lot of other things could have been done before resorting to such act.

MCA youth is reported to have asked for some distributive policies be abolished, in line with the abolishment of the FIC and indirectly the NEP. Typical, all this appeal to abolish NEP for the sake of so called equality is nothing more than greed masked by righteousness. Dah bagi betis, nak peha, bila bagi peha, nak ......

Where is UMNO youth? Where is the voice of the strong? Ae you only loud when seeking apologies upon apologies? Or in rallies to show support to your leader? What about the community that you are supposed to represent? Don't they deserve the support?

I know the PM that makes the decision is also your leader, but you must state your stand. Hopefully your leader will listen to you. Otherwise, the community will stop listening to you AND your leader AND your party. I know the that we malays are supposed to be 'beradap/t' and respect our elders, HOWEVER, we as muslim should speak for what is right! So, please politely and loudly voice your diagreement with your leader in support of your community. Your community will in return, support you!

This PPMSI fiasco is another example of sacrificing the good of the majority for the minority vote. The first is the NEP, sacrificed to appease the minority at the expense of the majority bumiputera. In this case, the minority is still not satisfied and trust you me, they are going to ask for more!

The second one is the abolishment of PPMSI to appease some loud minority who has nothing better to do. The victim is the younger malaysians, your children, whom, whether you like it or not, will have to face the global world and would not be able to communicate with it! As we speak, the majority of malaysians, malays and others alike have terrible command of english and it has become an embarassment to hire them.

I am placing my hope on the new breed of youngsters, who at the tender age of 11/12, could understand the language, problems posed in the language and thereafter, presents solutions in that language. When they go home, they still speak malay though, especially to their college brother who could not make a coherent sentence of english. Is that not an improvement?

But no! We have to kill that. Pressure our government to put an end to this improvement. End it before we see the fruit of that labour. Typical!

Mengapa ulama yang arif pasal agama Islam pandai berbahasa Arab. Mengapa orang yang arif bahasa arab lebih maju di dalam menghayatan Al-Quran? Sebabnya senang... mereka mempelajari agama islam dalam BAHASA ARAB!!!! bukan bahasa melayu!!!!!

Bahasa Arab adalah bahasa asal agama islam, jadi amat bodohlah jika kita memikirkan bahawa belajar agama islam dalam bahasa melayu sudah mencukupi.

Samalah dengan sains dan matematik. Ilmu itu kebanyakannya dalam bahasa Inggeris. Jadi untuk mendalaminya, common sense says, English is the way forward.

Lim Kit Siang, in his Blog, refers to the appeals court session that granted Zambry his victory, as a shot-gun session. Using the term monster in his description of the judiciary is also very distasteful - I find it to be outright insulting. And since when was he appointed the supreme ultimate judge to 'degrade' the court's JUDGMENT into a mere findings.

MCA wants to review the JPA Scholarship! PM is reported to have agreed to the review! What the **** Najib????

First you take away the 30% Bumiputera Equity on selected service sectors. ****ed up idea but some stood to say that it does not benefit the Bumiputera masses anyway. That his portion of NEP does not work.

However, the CORE and DEFINITELY effective portion of NEP is EDUCATION via scholarhip, enabling low income malays/bumiputera to break away from poverty via scholarship. Now you MCA wants to get you hands into that also and Najib is just letting it go. This is too much!

Notwithstanding our support for UMNO, UMNO must also support us. You are losing ground Najib!

Leave the scholarship alone! and Najib, start acting like a Prime Minister!

"Bumiputra and Indian investors have been asked to take up the remaining two billion Amanah Saham Malaysia (ASM) units as the Chinese have already snapped up their quota of 999mil units.

“I hope the bumiputras and Indians will not let this opportunity go,” Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said in his speech yesterday when closing the Malaysia Unit Trust Week organised by Permodalan Nasional Bhd, which began on April 18."

Mengapalah susah sangat nak ditafsirkan dari situasi ini. Orang Melayu rata rata tak ada duit lebih nak melabur!

Memang ada melayu yang kaya, tapi kebanyakan melayu hanya ada cukup cukup. Orang cina di sini dikatakan menyapu bersih 999 juta saham mereka. Itu memang mudah untuk orang cina, satu juta orang cina membeli RM1000 unit pun dah habis. Kalau seorang membeli purata RM10,000 hanya seratus ribu orang dah cukup.

Inilah hakikatnya. Inilah fakta dan bukti yang menujukkan bahawa orang melayu masih miskin di tanah air sendiri. DEB berjaya menghasilkan usahawan bumiputera dan melayu middle-class tapi jumlahnya masih tidak mencukupi jika dibandingkan dengan ratio populasi orang melayu. Kita jangan lupa, we had a lot of catching up to do since 1957. Apa-apa sumber yang Melayu dapat terpaksa dicincang lumat untuk dibagi sama rata.

Saya setuju, ramai melayu yang jadi amat kaya melalui DEB, tapi ramai juga yang lupa daratan. lupa nak tolong bangsa sendiri, hanyut dengan kemewahan. Nasib nasib. Kerajaan sepatutnya meletakkan KPI terhadap kontraktor kerajaan ini, samada mereka menolong bumiputera yang lain sebagaimana kerajaan menolong mereka.

Najib, orang melayu masih menunggu pelan dan tindakan yang proaktif untuk membangunkan bangsa melayu. Setakat ini kami hanya dengar ampuan demi ampuan untuk bangsa lain. Tidakkah UMNO itu untuk Melayu? Jangan lupa, di dalam keinginan anda untuk nampak adil, bijak dan saksama, anda menjadi perdana menteri kerana anda orang melayu dan anda ketua UMNO. Jangan terlalu susukan kera dihutan, anak di rumah kelaparan.

Parti Melayu Baru?

Rata-rata, ramai orang melayu sekarang ini bingung. confused. Dan yang sedihnya, mereka ini adalah penyokong terakhir UMNO.

Melayu penyokong pembangkang tetap taksub dengan parti mereka, hardcore, dan tidak lagi memikirkan kebaikan melayu seluruhnya. Mereka hanya menurut kata kepala mereka. Bukitnya, rata-rata penyokong mereka adalah rakyat miskin dan jika ada yang kaya, mereka kaya dengan meraih polisi kerajaan UMNO.

Tapi sekarang UMNO dengan Najib ni pun nampak goyang. Najib nampaknya berada di kayangan dengan mebuat polisi kayangan. Orang melayu di bumi ini hampa. Demi untuk memuaskan hati penyokong bukan melayu, macama macam polisi dicuat. MECD dibubarkan, hak melayu/bumiputera dihapuskan. Walaupun mungkin anda melihatnya sebagai perkara kecil, tapi isu ini amat penting pada dasarnya. Seperti orang mengambil harta/tanah kita. Apakah imbalanya? tiada apa apa.

Kalau kita mahu berdiam diri, masaklah melayu. Kita tidak boleh nafikan bahawa orang melayu masih dibelakang dari segi perniagaan. Benar, kita telah maju jika dibandingkan dengan dahulu, tapi masih dibelakang kerana kartel-kartel dan pakatan pakatan tersembunyi yang tidak dapat ditembusi orang melayu. Kalau ada yang menyangkal pendapat saya ini, dialah penipu!

Hapus sana, hapus sini. Idea pembangunan dimana? Hai Najib, orang melayu menaruh harapan terhadap kamu, adakah kami salah lagi sebagaimana kami salah memihak kepada Pak Lah. Jangan Jadi Pak Lah, sekarang lenyap dari pandangan dan hati orang melayu. Kalau Kamu betul-betul berjuang untuk orang melayu (Malaysia to majority melayu!), kamu akan diingati seperti bapa kamu, jika sebaliknya, contoh terdekat duduk di kerusi Kepala Batas.

Atau perlukah orang melayu membuat parti baru yang betul-betul memperjuangkan hak melayu. Bukan untuk harta, tapi benar-benar untuk kebaikan orang melayu - perjuangan melayu. Di masa ini, saya pasti menyertainya!

As a fellow Malay, I am struggling to see the light on this move by Najib. Is it a ploy to appease the insatiable non-malays in this country? If it is, then Najib, You can kiss UMNO good bye since even I, a strong supporter of UMNO, feels that this is a backstab!

Najib instructed the rebel assemblymen in Terengganu to turn up and they turned up! No more wishy washy let's talk and hear both sides, flip flopping and eventually doing nothing. A Prime Minister in my book needs to be decisive and be the boss, the leader, the supremo. Well done Najib!

On the other hand, I was having a teh tarik discussion with my friends late last night and there are still some uneasiness with regards to the way the current administration and PM is handling things.

The first one is that the Malays and its's leaders still appear to be apologetic. The PM must remember, while promoting 1 Malaysia, he is the PM because he is a Malay. There is no denying that fact. And the Malay is still the majority race in this country, a fact that has not changed since 1957. To really rule this country, you's have to rule the Malays.

The Malays, thanks to PAS and Anwar Ibrahim, is now split three ways and neither one is winning. And with weak UMNO, you can see other racial political parties like Gerakan, MCA and MIC trying to pressure the government to act in their interest. What has UMNO done?

Apart from Muhyiddin saying that they must air their grouses to the PM instead to the public (which is as basic as you can get) other UMNO leaders just kept queit. Where is the Ketua Pemuda UMNO here? Is he too busy lining up his generals? Where is Mukhriz too? He was supposed to be the brave one, brave up and tell off these whiners.

MIC, Gerakan and MCA, shut your gab and start getting your people back into your fold! And UMNO, stop being the 'Pinata Donkey' and allow yourself to be bashed for the amusement and benefit of others. As my good friend used to tell me, "if they don't like it, then fuck off!!"

I am sick of people telling me that UMNO is arrogant. UMNO has been benevolent enough to cover and take care of its 'partners' even when the latter's own people had rejected them. Making them senators and giving them some platform to garner back the support of their paeople.

But No! These ungrateful sods are too arrogant to admit that they have failed and accept the fact that UMNO had given a chance, that they have a chance of coming back at the grace of UMNO! They cannot accept that they are the losers. Instead makes demands as if UMNO is beholden to them when they have delivered jack shit over the last few elections. So who is arrogant here? I don't think it is UMNO!

Di dalam petikan tersebut, dua perkara menarik perhatian saya:-

1) Nizar menafikan yang Pas berjuang untuk membina negara islam.
2) Bagi saya, Nizar menyindir ayat Quran!

Dalam Isu yang pertama, salah seorang berbohong. Samada Nizar atau Nik Aziz. Hmmm susah nak ditentukan tu. Apa guna Kelantan dinamakan serambi Mekah jika bukan untuk cita-cita membina negara islam. Negeri yang sepenuhnya dikuasai pas, dinamakan negeri islam. Membangun Bersama Islam dan sebagainya. Yang saya meluat bukan dasarnya, tapi hiposkrasinya. Bukan ke Munafik namanya tu, depan cakap lain, belakang cakap lain.

Dalam isu kedua, apabila Nizar diajukan pertanyaan ayat suci al-Quran (saya tekankan, ayat SUCI), belau menjawab sinis, itu ayat Quran yang sudah ada lebih 1,500 tahun dahulu. Bukti itu sindiran? Ianya disambut dengan gelak ketawa ahli-ahli pembangkang (saya tak tahulah samada ianya termasuk wakil PAS).

Astargfirullah-halazim. Inikah pemimpin melayu islam sekarang? Sanggup mempersendakan ayat-ayat suci Al-Quran? Tun Mahathir dan orang UMNO yang dicaci oleh orang PAS pun tidak pernah melakukan sedemikian. Parti BN yang lain pun sekurang-kurangnya hormat terhadap kesucian ayat Al-Quran dan perinsip islam orang UMNO.

Orang sebeginikah yang kina nak jadikan pemimpin. Orang sebeginikah yang orang PAS and Melayu PKR julang-julangkan? Sekarang saya tidak hairan lagi kenapa Nizar jatuh sejatuh-jatuhnya. Inilah balasan Allah yang Maha Mengetahui.

Ada seorang penyokong PAS di Kelantan menyatakan bahawa Allah menyebelahi mereka dan menjanjikan kemenangan kerana perjuangan mereka. Kegagalan mereka untuk menguasai Malaysia adalah kerana UMNO membawa bala kepada umat islam di Malaysia ini. Kini saya yakin bahawa PAS adalah bala bagi dirinya sendiri.

Berbaloi ke masuk UMNO?

Selepas membaca ucapan Najib, saya beria-ia nak masuk UMNO. Lepas dengar keputusan Pemuda UMNO, tak jadilah!

Tetapi saya terlihat clip video kehadiran Tun Mahathir ke mesyuarat UMNO dan dari apa yang saya lihat, gagahnya UMNO. Bersemangat, bertenaga dan penuh harapan. Saya pasti, parti pembangkang sedang shitting bricks, resah dengan UMNO yang nampaknya makin bersatu.

Walaubagaimanapun, pendapat yang sama tidak dapat saya unjurkan terhadap Pemuda UMNO. Pemuda UMNO, bagi saya nampak lemah dan berpecah. Mengikut keputusan perwakilan UMNO yang lepas, inilah pandangan saya:
(1) Pemuda UMNO mempunyai Ketua yang tidak mendapat sokongan padu Perwakilan UMNO. Jika ada usul undi tak percaya, usul itu boleh menang kerana besar kemungkinan majority akan menyokongya.
(2) Perwakilan Pemuda UMNO jelas tidak mempedulikan hasrat akar UMBI. Apa yang dipedulikan mereka, saya pun tak tahu tapi boleh teka. Benar, 300++ ahli (yang juga perwakilan) gembira sangat sangat tapi majority ahli ahli Pemuda UMNO pastinya kecewa dan sedih. Suara mereka tiada makna. Ketua ketua bahagian mereka tidak membawa hasrat mereka. Mereka pastinya rasa tertipu.

Walaubagaimanapun, Pemuda UMNO masih ada harapan kerana sekurang-kurangya 1/3 daripada perwakilan benar benar tolak politik wang. Tak majority, tapi ada harapan. UMNO di peringkat atas sedang menjalani pembersihan dan perubahan. Jika UMNO mahu diterima oleh masyarakat muda, UMNO harus mengubah persepsi terhadap Pemuda UMNO. Bak kata pepatah melayu, sayangkan anak tangan tangankan. Kekanglah dimana yang perlu dan tambatlah kuasa dimana yang patut.

Obviously they could not be to reign supreme.

Timbalan Ketua Menteri Penang PKR, yang sedang begelumang dengan siasatan skandal korupsi diberikan cuti yang boleh dipanjangkan sesuka hati beliau. Elizabeth Wong, yang mempunyai masalah peribadi, diberikan cuti yang boleh dipanjangkan sesuka hati beliau.

What the fish is going on here! Nampaknya ini seperti memberi makan gaji buta. Kerja tak payah buat gaji jalan. Memalukan dan sugguh tidak bertanggungjawab! Beginilah jalan penyelesaian PKR dan PR. Tak mengapa jika wang cukai rakyat yang digunakan untuk membayar gaji mereka ini di makan buta asal kerusi dan kuasa dipegang PKR.

Kalau berani sangat, kosongkanlah kerusi itu dan bertandinglah balik. Mungkin menang, mungkin jugak tidak. Tapi kalau ikut kata PR, mesti menang punya.

Haih... teramat benci aku terhadap orang-orang yang makan gaji buta ini sedangkan rakyat sedang bergelut dalam kemelesetan ekonomi. Lintah!

Baru! Politik pokok!

Haih! Haih! Si(n)gh! Alahai! Aduhai!

Dah habis cara saya mengeluh dengan cara PKR ini dan bagaimana orang ramai boleh buta hati dan kelabu mata dengan gelagat gelagat mereka dengan terus menyokong pakatan drama ini! Apa yang saya nampak sekaran ini, pakatan rakyat lebih banyak bermain wayang, berdrama; mengamalkan politik rhetorik daripada menjadi wakil kepada rakyat.

Elizabeth Wong, yang menawarkan diri untuk bersara kerana gambar bogel, diberikanya cuti tanpa tempoh. Hmmm bagus untuk Elizabeth dan pakatan rakyat, tetapi rakyat dan pengundi beliau yang rugi dan sengsara. Siapa wakil mereka? Siapakah pembela nasib penduduk setempat itu? Dimanakah tempat mereka mengadu nasib? Sungguh tidak bertanggungjawab dan mementingkan diri sendiri!

PKR, yang berperang tekak untuk mendapatkan pengundian semula di Perak, sepatutnya menerima persaraan Elizabeth itu dan mengadakan pengundian semula di Bukit Lanjan. Di Perak ada kerajaan (walaupun bukan bukan PKR), wakil rakyat semua boleh bertugas dan rakyat tidak diabaikan. Di Bukit Lanjan, wakil rakyatnya bercuti panjang. Bukan sakit, bukan cedera, tapi semata mata untuk karier politik Elizabeth dan pakatan rakyat. Apa? takut kalah ke?

Karpal Singh pulak, mengaku raja dan menghina pemuda umno! Bila orang marah, di nak saman! Dan yang pelik, ramai jugak melayu yang menyokong beliau, temasuklah penyokong penyokong pas. Nampak macam hero pas pulak? Hmmm bukankah orang ini yang mengatakan 'langkah mayat saya dulu sebelum malaysia jadi negara islam'? Tak percaya? tanyalah orang orang pas sekarang, ramai yang menyanjung Karpal ni. Pas kalau tak hati hati boleh karam kerana Karpal.

Terbaru ialah pokok kemerdekaan. Pokok yang tidak bersalah dekat parlimen tu tiba-tiba jadi tumpuan ramai. dah lah tu, dapat nama baru pulak. Perhimpunan itu dianggap haram, tapi demi publisiti murah mereka mengeheret pokok itu sekali untuk menjadi prop di dalam bollywood movie mereka.

Apa pasallah orang melayu tak dapat melihat dengan jelas perkara perkara ini? Why can't we see the forest past the trees? Kita minat sangat drama drama ni kot?

Defecting the de facto

Karpal, the Mr. know it all has called for Anwar to step down as the de facto leader of PR. That is quite absurd as Mr. Karpal should know that de facto means that the station is by the actions of others, not by law. I.e everyone listens to Anwar, thus making him a de facto leader, rather then appointed or elected. Therefore, he actually have no seat to step down from. His de facto(ship) would be null and void if PR reps stops listening to him and acting to his instructions.

Karpal's chairmanship is de jure, by law and appointment. But he whining that his members are not listening to him despite him being the chairman. Then, Mr. Karpal Singh, you are therefore a de facto not the chairman of DAP. hmmm.. I think I have managed to also bemused and confused myself.

The main issue I have is the Karpal Syndrom, as I have written before, a syndrom of he is right and everyone else is wrong. Judges is wrong, sepaker is wrong, the prime minister is wrong and now the Sultan is wrong. He will have an opinion on everything ranging from the judiciary, the constitution right up what the sultan can or cannot do. However, most of his opinions only seem to support his cause, it is as if the laws were written to serve his ideas alone.

Anyway, my prediction of the outcome from this crisis in the opposition is this.

(1) Anwar will remain the opposition de facto leader. He is the cashcow and right now, he is the main attraction for dissenting malay votes. Pas alone does not enough clout and mean to swing the fence sitting Malays.

(2) Lim Guan Eng and other DAP leaders will stand by Anwar as they know that they would not have smelled this great opportunity and turn of event (including taking over Penang) if not for Anwar and PKR's instigation against BN. DAP rode on Anwar's popularity, including championing Anwar's fights, standing side by side in Anwar's rallies. Without Anwar, DAP's pact with PAS would disintegrate immediately.

(3) DAP will put Karpal Singh in cold storage or kick him out. Losing Karpal is a minor setback compared to Anwar and the benefits he brings to DAP.

Lagi Lagi Rally, Anwar, You are Full of ....

Saya dah tak boleh tahan dah dengan gelagat Anwar and PR! Sekarang mereka nak buat rally untuk membantah keruntuhan kerajaan mereka. What the ....?

One of my good friends pointed out one interesting observation. He told me to observe the pattern of mob rallies with Anwar. He said that rallies were rampant when Anwar was in ABIM - they would march for the islamic revolution in Malaysia, condemning the government along the way.

Then Anwar joined UMNO and made minister. The rallies stopped.

Anwar sacked. The rallies continued but this time for his own benefit. Rather than facing the charges, he'd want the poor people to march under heat and rain to release him. What a selfish act, yet alas, the people are none the wiser.

Anwar in jail. No political rallies.

Anwar came out of jail. The rallies started again!

What the heck is going on? The poor and those who would not know better would be out in droves under heat and rain for a cause they do not fully understand! This is exploitation of the poor and a major creation of instability.

Perak PR government loses assembly's confidence. So then just sit queitly down as opposition. The law is working fine, the people's situation has not changed, no one has been shot and everything is calm. The only calamity is PR's leadership and that is all. So to rally now is just to save your friggin job. How selfish.

People need to work, family to feed and all. Taking them away from their family to serve your individual and party greed is extremely irresponsible. When people are losing jobs, you are calling them and fuel their frustration, giving then another avenue to scream.

Why don't you Anwar, for the righteous person that you claim to be, accept the situation and boldly tell you supporters to remain calm and work hard to make a better living under this trying condition.

Advise them that you will still press the government to look after the interest of the rakyat as an opposition, despite doing jack shit as the ruling government!

Lim Guan Eng the mind reader

In the Borneo Post today, Lim Guan Eng was reported to have said that if any DAP members who is not contactable for 24 hours is deemed to have the desire to quit! That is the most ridiculously stupid statement I have read thus far. It is as fi he can read people's mind.

One, quitting is the perrogative of the person holding the job. Not answering phone calls is no indication of wanting to quit the job, maybe the guy just hates your guts and do not want to hear your irritating yelps. This part is so ridiculous that I find it hard to make any coherent argument.

Two, the job of an elected assemblyment is not an appointed one, it is elected. By insinuating that these 24-hour MIAs as having the desire to quit and presumably forwarding there undated resignation letter to make them lose their post tantamount to sacking an elected representatives. I find this sneaky and conniving. Is this what DAP is all about?

In a related event, I find the action of the Speaker,Sivakumar as distasteful. There were conflicting reports on whether the resignation letters were faxed or handed to him by hand at his house. Which one is which?

And now that the elected assemblymen challenged the validity and sincerity of the letter, he should have retracted his statement on the resignation. In any valid action, there must be intention and action (mens rea and actus rea - karpal can elaborate). In this case, obviously there is no intention to resign as clearly indicated by the assemblymen. The speaker must then be impartial and not rush to accept the alleged resignation.

This Perak PKR and DAP issue stinks to high heaven!

Lompat Pagar

Back when I was in my boarding school, we have a group of students whose specialty is 'lompat pagar'! 'Lompat Pagar' or "Panjat Pagar" or more affectionately known as "fly" is the nocturnal ritual of jumping over the school fence after curfew, with the intention of replenishing the supply of ciggaretes and visiting the neighbourhood games shop for a few rounds of "Raiders" and other arcade challenges (before the time of affordable laptop and computer games as well as PSP). Rondevouz with the opposite gender from neighbouring school was usually included in the event. The Flyers are the Kings of the School. They controll the ciggie market and you can identify them by the drool left on the tables in the classroom. We loved them!

But the Lompat Pagar I want to talk today is different. It is about BN and PR reps crossing over but unlike the fly-ers in my school, they are not well regarded at all! All of them. I really wonder why we elected these people in the first place.

Several events disgust me. The first is Karpal's sudden support of the anti-hopping law when I can remember that last time, the opposition were vehemently against such law. I personally do not agree with the anti-hopping law as I find it undemocratic. Our constitution provides freedom of movement and we should keep it that way. Such law serves only the politician and political parties, not the people! And DAP's sudden support just goes to show that they are more focused on the political ambition the people at large. In Perak they are still acting like the Opposition, acting and reacting to events that would only secure their political hold. Where has your principle gone?

The issues surrounding the resignations of two PKR members are no less disturbing. If the alleged un-dated letters of resignation forced upon the two assemblymen were true, then I would see PKR as malicious and insecure. It is akin to holding your team-mates at ransom, forcing them to toe the parties line lest they are made to resign - they have no choice to diagree or leave the party. BN in this part, scores a point as the Bota assemblyman was not forced to resign.

In this regard, I, a citizen of Malaysia am sad and disgusted over the top level political bickering and power fighting when thousands are losing their jobs right now. It is sickening that these people that we entrusted with our votes are only concerned over how many seats they are going to have in a particular state. Is PR no different than BN?

Going by PR's actions, I would advise BN to leave them be. Under the current economic situation and their present mentality and action, it is only a matter of time they would mess-up the state. I pity Perak's people, but in the words of George Lopez " that way you'll learn!"

Kugan

I observed with great interest the developments surrounding the death of a car thief suspect, Kugan. The undercurrent and sentiments are undeniably ugly. The following are some information and interesting points I have gathered and with those, I will try to play Sherlock.

This Kugan guy was arrested for suspected involvement in car theft. I hate thieves and anyone who loves thieves are thieves themselves. I hate having my belongings carted away when I have toiled long and hard to obtain them.

Although not formally charged and convicted in court, since we all knwo that would take a long time, the suspicion is augmented by the fact the Kugan LED THE POLICE to the discovery of the stolen vehicles.

Then Kugan died. In police custody.

According to report, the family stormed the mortuary, to claim the body. Indian politicians (a fact, not being racist here) stood up to be the hero by joining the MOB! Hello, this is not a Tamil movie! Politicians should use their positions to get the body out diplomatically and professionally. NOT be part of the MOB! I can never understand this. If you want to be part of a mob, why bother be a politician?

Back to the death? Who did it? Everybody is assuming the police and this is when the jigsaw doesn't fit.

1. Gani Patai classify the case as murder before the completion of the investigation into the cause of death. In fact, the second post mortem hasn't been carried out yet when he issued the statement. So if the first post mortem says no malice in the death, what was the basis for the classification as the second post mortem hasn't been carried out. Hmmm... maybe somebody confessed or maybe it is to appease certain mob.

2. Kugan led to the discovery of the stolen car. Kugan would be required by the Police to testify in court with regards to the discovery of the stolen cars, otherwise the chain of evidence may be lost.

3. The Ring Leader is still at large. Kugan would definitely be able to identify him, and since he has led the police to the stolen car, it is likely that this suspected thief would squel on his boss. Could his boss have arranged for someone to end his life before he squel or as punishment for leading the police to the stolen car?

Interesting.

Kemenangan PAS di KT baik untuk Najib

Pas menang di Kuala Terengannu. BN Kalah. Rata rata akan mengangap ini sebagai kegagalan Najib sebagai Presiden 'elect'. Saya berfikiran lain. Kekalahan BN ini adalah bagus untuk Najib.

Dengan kekalahan BN kali ini, saya berharap Najib, akhirnya dapat menerima hakikat hakikat yang selama ini dinafikan.

Pertama, Najib harus sedar dan mengaku. Rakyat sudah tidak ada keyakinan dalam UMNO. Melayu sudah muak dengan sandiwara dalaman UMNO. Dan apabila saya mengatakan UMNO, saya bermaksudkan pemimpin pemimpin UMNO. Dan Jikalau UMNO ingin mengabil kembali hati hati mealyu ini, UMNO harus dipimpin oleh pejuan pejuang melayu, seperti Tun Rahman, Razak dan Mahathir. Mereka tidak seharusnya popular dengan 100% masyarakat semasa, akan tetapi mereka mempejuangkan orang melayu dan Malaysia, bukan hanya bijak berbicara dan berpidato.

Kedua, dengan kesedaran ini, saya berharap Najib akan mengenipakan segala janji-janji atau pakatan yang berkaitan dengan peralihan kuasa, sekiranya ada. Najib telah diberi peluang oleh Allah untuk membuktikan dirinya sebagai pemimpin dan pejuang. Oleh itu, gunakanlah peluang ini bukan untuk meraih populariti, tetapi untuk berdiri teguh mempertahankan sesuatu. Biarlah orang membenci dan mencaci, itu hanya manusia, yang semuanya akan mati juga.

Tapi yang akan kekal adalah perjuangan. Contoh terbaik adlah Abdullah Badawi, walau sehebat manapun usaha dilakukan untuk menaikkan imej beliau, beliau masih dianggap sebagai seorang perdana menteri yang gagal. Usaha usaha 'superficial' tidak akan bertahan lama, hanya tingakah laku yang akan diingati.

Tun Mahathir, walaupun bukan sedikit yang membencinya dan pelbagai usaha dilakukan untuk memusnahkan imejnya dan menanam beliau dari ingatan, majoriti rakyat Malaysia, baik melayu cina atau india, menyanjung beliau sebagai bapa pemodenan Malaysia dan seorang pejuang yang memberikan semangat dan keyakinan diri kepada rakyat malaysia.

Abdullah menang besar bila dia mula mula naik jadi perdana menteri, tapi akhirnya kalah hilang terus. Najib bermula dengan kekalahan, harapnya akan berakhir dengan kemenangan.

Those eligible can now apply for free hold titles

IPOH: The Perak government is now accepting applications from commercial property owners in new villages and planned villages to convert their leasehold titles to freehold.

State senior executive council member Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham said owners could apply either at the state Land and Mines department or district land offices, depending on where their existing land titles were issued.

"To determine where they should go to submit their applications, they should look at the chop print on their respective land titles," he said Friday.

As for the premium payable, Ngeh advised owners to visit www.ptg.perak.gov.my where there was an online calculator that could easily compute the amounts.

Last year, the Pakatan Rakyat state government had accepted applications for the conversion of land titles for residential properties in all planned villages and new villages.

Under the exercise, 47,000 lot owners in 134 new villages and 102,000 lot owners in 349 planned villages were eligible for automatic conversion of their titles from leasehold to freehold.

‘Kampung baru dianggap curi hak tanah Melayu’

KUALA LUMPUR 15 Jan. – Raja Muda Perak, Raja Nazrin Shah bertitah, raja-raja Melayu telah menzahirkan teguran terhadap rancangan penempatan semula kampung baru pada tahun 1950 yang dianggap mencuri hak tanah kepunyaan Melayu.

Baginda yang dalam keadaan sebak semasa menyentuh perkara itu ketika menutup Kongres Ekonomi Islam Ketiga (KEI-3) di sini hari ini bertitah, teguran tersebut dizahirkan dalam Mesyuarat Raja-Raja Melayu pada 24 Mei 1950.

Titah baginda, penempatan semula melalui Rancangan Briggs yang dilancarkan oleh Sir Henry Gurney itu telah menimbulkan rasa kurang senang raja-raja Melayu.

Raja Nazrin bertitah, Rancangan Briggs memberi nikmat kepada 400,000 penduduk setinggan Cina di pinggir hutan berpindah ke kampung baru yang dilengkapkan dengan jalan, bekalan elektrik, air paip, kemudahan sekolah dan kesihatan serta turut dibantu mendapat pelbagai peluang pekerjaan dan kemudahan perniagaan.

Rancangan penempatan tersebut, titah baginda, dilaksanakan ketika masih begitu ramai keluarga Melayu yang tidak memiliki tanah dan dari segi lokasi geografi, kampung baru itu lebih hampir dengan bandar berbanding kawasan pembangunan Felda.

Raja Nazrin bertitah, kemudahan-kemudahan infrastruktur dan sosial yang disediakan di kampung baru juga jauh lebih baik daripada apa yang terdapat di kampung tradisi Melayu.

Fight Fire With Fire!

Many a time we have been left befuddled on the (in)action of the Arab countries when it comes to Palestine and Israel. Many a reason has been attributed to this but the most profound is the allegation that these Arab countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, are indebted to the United States of America. No matter how much their citizens hate the American Government, their home government would still be at the behest of America.

Before we proceed further, I would like make it clear that I am not referring to the American citizens or the citizens of each country when referring to those countries, more towards the government of those countries. I for one, would appreciate the distinction between myself and the questionable actions of my present government too.

Back to the issue in hand, the lack of actions by the Arab countries and in the same breath, the grip Israel has on America.

What is the common denominator? What is the bind so strong that it could chain the government of these countries? The answer is money and debt. Some of the Arab countries, long ago has borrowed huge amount of money to fund their country and rulers from the US and other European countries. In return for the loans, the Arabs has given bankers and advisers from these countries access to the ruling elite an critical business sectors. Once the seed of trust and dependence have been planted, these advisers turned into puppet masters.

But now we, the Islamic countries, have an opportunity to cure that cancer. The sequence of events are so in our favour that if we do not take advantage of this now, the window of opportunity will be gone for the next hundred years. Consider this.

Sep 11 tragedy and the reciprocal Iraq invasion. While the Islamic population condemns the senseless killings of civilian on Sept 11, the misplaced punishment and brutality brought by the Iraq Invasion on the Muslim civilians in Iraq has finally angered the Arab nations enough for them to draw some of their money away from the US into Europe. They even seriously considered moving into other Muslim nations like Malaysia, Indonesia and Pakistan.

Then the oil boom followed and the Arab countries are flushed with cash, way beyond what they could imagine. The bitter sentiment of the US was still there causing them to be wary of US advisers and investments. They seriously thought of investing money in other muslim countries. Malaysia received Al-Rahji Bank and Kuwait Finance House, amongst others. But the bulk went to Dubai and Europe property market.

Now, oil price is down and the Arab countries are running a budget deficit. Dubai, some say, is on the brink of bankruptcy, if not for the assistance of Abu Dhabi (Nakheel bonds trading at 85 cents to the dollar). Even the mighty Saudi is running a budget deficit. And this is our opportunity!

Malaysia and other Islamic nations must pool together to LEND money to these countries so that they would not resort to the US and Europe anymore. Of course, the reserves in Saudi is big, but this situation provides an avenue for the Islamic nation to create a mechanism where they would be financially independent from the US, Europe and finally Israel.

Once they are financially independent, then we are really getting closer to peace and the end to terrorism!

Malay Dilemma, the fence sitter's version

DAP say no friggin way, MCA agrees.

What is the pattern here? What the heck is going on?

What are the Malays doing, the UMNO and PAS (PKR tak taulah, melayu ke ape?)? In the words of my brother, Rocky Labu and Joe Labi! Hai dilemma dilemma....

The Malays of this day, especially those sitting on the fence is in deep dilemma. Should I support UMNO or PAS?

If I were to support UMNO, this is what I will get. I will get a party which no longer hold a strong position to decisively institute change. I will be labeled as part of a party bent on getting government contracts. I will be looked upon as someone who wants to get rich fast, and not really championing the malays in general, just my pocket. Sigh

UMNO to me is infested with multitude of problems to institute change. The leaderships comprise either sons and siblings of past leaders or rich businessman, the elitist. And I would not be far wrong to say that these elitist are far removed from the grassroots to generate genuine support; and when I say grassroots, it means malay grassroots. Many never looked past the RM200 pocket money and immediate projects.

I sincerely feel that Najib, while he may be better than Pak Lah (then again, that is not too difficult to achieve), does not have the charisma and clout to direct UMNO. His speeches and delivery are lame and uncharismatic - key to garner mass support. People clap and cheer, but not very sincere. He is also very accomodative, too accomodative in fact. And this will frustrate the Malays as they long for a STRONG leader, unpopular maybe, but STRONG. In this case I think Najib is going about the wrong way, he is trying to be popular first and then try to be strong instead of being strong and made popular because of it.

The leaders in UMNO are also parroting the word development, development, development without realising that the mass population are seriously cynical about that, more like development for the cronies. To them, right now what is important is someone really standing up for them. For their children and their grandchildren.

KJ? Hmmm misguided intellectual and someone I do not trust with my country, at least for the time being. Mukhriz? Popular but mainly because most people hates KJ. Mukhriz himself hasn't done anything major that would have garnered genuine tangible support for his actions of ideas. For example, his dare to change policy seemed to have waned as the battle front (UMNO nominations) disappeared. And now that the KJ issue died down, mukhriz is no longer prominent, almost invisible. That is proof that Mukhriz needs KJ to be at the limelight. He is a hero only if KJ is the villian. He is not yet seen as a hero for the Malays, which would then make him prominent, regardless of KJ is in the picture or not.

As for PAS, I look at it as an unscrupulous manipulator of uneducated malays - the hardcore group that really needs help. The reason why I said this is simple. I find it unscrupulous when kampung folks were told that they would go to heaven for voting pas and hell otherwise. That is clearly taking advantage of the people's ignorance.

I find it disgusting that PAS changes its policies and stand, just to win seats. Cavorting with DAP when on one hand they accused UMNO as kafir. Keeping silent on Hudud during the last general election to appease DAP and non-muslim voters and using it again during the KT campaign to garner votes. This is akin to belitling Hudud, using it as a mere tool to meet PAS's objectives, nothing more.

Kelantan has been under PAS rule for more than a decade. Hudud laws were passed, but whenever i go home, girls with shirts so tight that it would squeeze the boobs out, were still roaming the state. The male and female check-out lanes are no more but ornaments. To me, PAS is now obsessed with power that they also forgot what they stand for.

Israel dengan kejamnya membedil Palestine. Banyak analisa-analisa dibuat, bertujuan untuk mengunkil sebab dan alasan kekejaman ini. Pada pendapat saya, Israel sedang 'last kopek' perlindungan Bush. Mereka tidak tahu lagi samada Obama boleh menjadi payung kebal mereka kelak.

Di Malaysia pula, Sime Darby sekali lagi menjadi tajuk utama dengan cadangan membina terminal untuk penerbangan kos rendah di Labu. Ini selepas idea dangkal untuk mengambil alih IJN bocor dan telah terpaksa ditarik balik. Saya tak ingin menuduh mana mana pihak, tapi pada pandangan kasar saya, in macam usaha projek last kopek di bawah Pak Lah.

Sime Darby dulu adalah kebangaan orang melayu. Sebuah syarikat Inggeris yang telah diambil alih oleh kerajaan malaysia selepas kemerdekaan. "In 1981, the group became a wholly Malaysian-owned company after former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad engineered a raid by Pemodalan Nasional Berhad to take over the group at the London Stock Exchange." - wikipedia.

Syarikat ini pada suatu masa dahulu telah banyak membantu orang malaysia, dengan Sime Darby Education, biasiswa dan macam macam lagi. Kenapa? Kerana dahulu kita dan Sime Darby sedar bahawa ianya milik Malaysia, yang majoritinya melayu.

Tapi sekaran dah lain, Sime Darby sudah lupa sejarah mereka dan siapa diri mereka. Dan Kita pula sudah lupa bahawa Sime Darby milik kita. Bukan milik individu yang diamanahkan untuk menjaga Sime Darby ataupun perdana menteri. Oleh itu, kita bertanggungjawab bersuara untuk menghentikan usaha usaha dangkal dan rip-off oleh Sime Darby. Permodalan Nasional milik kerajaan dan kerajaan milik kita!

Gapena - stop making us look like idiots!!!

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federation of Malay Writers Associations (Gapena) has given the Government until Dec 31 to decide whether to continue the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Science in English.

Otherwise, it will act, including taking the matter to court.

Gapena wanted the Government to be firm and decide on the issue soonest possible, said its deputy president Prof Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Abu Bakar.

“The Education Minister can say we are being emotional. Yes, we are emotional (over this matter) but it is only to protect the position of Bahasa Malaysia as provided in the Federal Constitution,” he told reporters at a Gapena dinner with the media here on Tuesday night.

Gapena has been pressuring the Government to revert to the teaching and learning of Maths and Science in Bahasa Malaysia.

Kampung boys, once heckled and put at a disadvantage for their poor grasp of english language, can now have a fighting chance. My parents, who both are retired teachers (dad used to teach sastera melayu), agreed with me completely.

Command of language, when you leave the school, is extremely important. It affects your self esteem and confidence level. Having people laughing at your broken grammar is no small matter. And let me tell you Gapena, the outside world communicates in English! or Spanish, or french! But the lingua franca is english!

Gapena, just because you want to appear relevant and protect your small band of writers, you are destroying the chance of Malay schoolboys in making themselves better. Inilah definasi " menang sorak, kampung tergadai"

Bahasa melayu masih relevan dan majoriti subjek pelajaran masih di dalam bahasa melayu. Why must Gapena pick on this two 'livelihood-critical' subjects?' Where the hell were you when they were talking about the signboard?

Wahai Gapena, carilah isu isu lan untuk membangunkan bahasa melayu. Banyak lagi isu yang lebih relevan dan tidak memundurkan melayu. Stop making us malays look like idiots!

Sime Darby taking over IJN??? Tikus membaiki labu

Today, I heard the news that the government would have no objection to Sime Darby taking over IJN. I really wonder what is going through their heads?

IJN is the brainchild of Tun Mahathir (who also puts his life in the local hands of IJN repeatedly unlike some ministers and opposition leaders who choose to rely on overseas treatment). As an institute, I would beleive that its purpose is to promote the development, research and treatment of heart related diseases. It proved to be a resounding success, enabling treatment to hundreds, if not thousands of malaysian who would have died if they were to seek treatment overseas (as they could not afford it obviously). As such, IJN has been shouldering a huge social responsibility and ran by dedicated, passionate and selfless doctors and experts. It is the pride of our nation.

Sime Darby on the other hand is a corporate conglomorate who is answerable to its stakeholders, shareholders and bondholders alike. They cannot afford to take on the social responsibility currently being shouldered by IJN, there is no way! They need to give returns to their shareholders and pay the debts to the bondholders. If Sime Darby is to take over IJN, then that would be the beginning of the end for IJN's service to the poor. Some may still get the treatment for Sime Darby's corporate social responsibility publicity, but it will not be the same as now.

Doctors there would have to justify their costs and be answerable to the board of directors who may know nuts about social heathcare. Why must we put this additional burden on these dedicated doctors? Is this how we reward them?

If Sime Darby has so much money, please put them in better use like making your existing companies more efficient. If Sime Darby is really hard up for heart treatment specialist, use the money and build your own. Then we have two heart specialist centres, better still.

If IJN needs money, go for your won fund raising and continue to be independent.

Please, stop ripping off our national treasures!

Mimpilah melayu

Pandangan saya kali ini memang ditujukan kepada orang melayu, tapi kaum lain pun boleh guna pakai juga.

Kita ni orang melayu, selalu dingatkan agar jangan bermimpi. Macam macam cerita dibuat, perti angan-angan mat jenin. Kata-kata seperti 'jangan mimpilah' ata ' katak nak jadi raja' sering sangat di ngiar-ngiarkan di telinga kita. Orang kata, berpijak di bumi rata dan macam macam lagi

Saya tidak setuju! Kalau itulah sikap kita, kita tak akan maju.

Kita orang melayu perlu bermimpi atau dream untuk mencapai sesuatu yang jauh dihadapan kita. Kita tidak boleh membiarkan situasi keadaan kita mengongkong dan menghadkan kemajuan kita. Nak bermimpi jadi jutawan, silakan, Angkasawan ke, doktor ke... tak kiralah. Terutamanya bagi orang melayu yand dari kampung-kampung.

Jangan takut dengan kebolehan anda. Jangan gusar dengan apa yang orang akan kata. These dreams will bring you forward. It will make you creative and able to spot opportunities.

Like I always say to myself, when you want the moon, aim for the stars.

’Seditious statement’
Mukhriz’s call for vernacular schools to be scrapped saw an immediate and strong reaction by political leaders.

In Parliament, Opposition parties hit out at the son of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for blaming the vernacular school system as the cause of a polarised society.

DAP Parliamentary Leader and Ipoh Timor MP Lim Kit Siang claimed that Mukhriz had committed a seditious offence in questioning one of the four sensitive issues entrenched in the Constitution and said he can be disqualified as an MP upon conviction.

“The Constitution Amendment 1971 imposed an absolute prohibition against questioning these four issues and removed parliamentary immunity in parliamentary debates,” he said at the Parliament lobby, reports LOH FOON FONG.

The Sedition Act does not allow anyone to propose the closure of Chinese or Tamil primary schools, just as one cannot question the special provision for Malays and natives in Sabah and Sarawak in Article 153, Lim said.

Now lets analyse this:

1. If mukhriz is to be dragged in for seditions, then please invite Chua Soi Lek, Karpal Singh, Lim Kit Siang, and all the other primates that raised the Malay special previliges issue. The law applies to both side, unless you are suffering from Karpal Syndrome.

2. What would UMNO leaders do? My guess is apologize, or something to that effect. Maybe vilify Mukhriz to gain personal leverage

See, I was right in my previous posting. This equal malaysian lauded by the DAP, MCA are a piece of bullshit. Extract of Malaysiakini's report on Mukhriz's move to push for single schooling system said:

Pemuda DAP Pulau Pinang dipercayai akan membuat laporan polis hari ini berhubung kenyataan kontroversi Mukhriz di Parlimen semalam.

Sementara itu MCA menganggap kenyataan anak mantan perdana menteri itu Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad demi menguatkan kedudukannya menjelang pemilihan Pemuda Umno, Mac depan.

" Mukhriz hanyalah seorang daripada sekian ramai yang mengungkitkan polemik sejak beberapa dekad lalu, semata-mata untuk berdepan dengan pemilihan parti," kata presidennya Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.

"Sangat menyedihkan kerana ahli-ahli masih tidak boleh berfikir di luar kotak.

Sementara timbalannya Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek berkata "yang hendak menjadi hero dalam pemilihan parti, bukan saya.

"Pemilihan MCA sudah lepas. Saya mencadangkan tengok cermin (dulu), siapa yang hero."

Tambahnya, kebebasan memilih aliran pendidikan dan menggunakan bahasa ibunda di sekolah-sekolah telah didebat sekian lama dan telah diterima sebagai amalan meluas.

Dr. Novadri commented that this is Chinese greed in Malaysia. I agree.

I do not want to be racist and have no intention here, but, come on guys if the actions of MCA and DAP here are not regarded as racist, then pigs can fly! Come-on UMNO and PAS, don't tell me you don't have the balls to take this on.

I have many chinese friends that went to the national schools and it is so much easier for the malays to blend in with them and vice versa. By blending in, both races can better understand each other and create unity.

Alas, UMNO, due to Pak Lah, is waning and I bet that all the other UMNO lame ducks will just APOLOGIZE!

Dimanakah kita orang Melayu?

Mengapa agaknya tanah ini dahulunya dikenali sebagai Tanah Melayu ataupun Malaya oleh seluruh dunia?

Mengapa agaknya saya merasakan bahawa pemimpin melayu kini nampak pengecut dan pembelot kaum mereka?

UMNO di dalam BN berdiam diri bila MCA and MIC berlaku sinis terhadap orang melayu, menyindir dan memperlekehkan orang melayu. UMNO mendabik dada mengaku pejuang melayu, tempat payung pelindung orang melayu. Lupakan PAS, UMNOlah yang akan memartabatkan melayu, kata mereka.

Berkali kali MCA dan MIC (dan sekarang si ikan bilis Kaveyyas) mengugut, memperlekeh dan memberi kata dua pada UMNO. Apa UMNO but, diam membisu. Yang kecewa? Orang Melayu.

Wahai Orang melayu, tak kira PKR, UMNO atau PAS. Janganlah terpedaya dengan retoric MIC. MCA, DAP yang melaung-laungkan malaysian malaysia. Mereka tidak akan menjaga orang melayu. Ini hakikatnya. Kita tak boleh lari dari kenyataan ini. This is real life and it will not go away merely because we say so. Mungkin ini akan terjadi pada suatu hari tapi not now. Inilah hakikatnya.

Walaupun sesama kita, rakyat jelata, Ali, Ah Keong dan Mutusami boleh hidup gembira dan saling bantu membantu dan pada masa yang sama mengekalkan identiti masing masing, pemimpin-pemimpin sekarang tandus idea untuk menarik kita dan terpaksa mengunakan isu perkauman. Tak ada sorang pun pemimpin yang datang memberikan idea yang cukup bernas, yang bertujuan memberikan kita rakyat Malaysia satu kehidupan yang lebih baik.

Kita hidup berkaum ini sudah lama. Sejak zaman kerajaan Melaka lagi. Ini bukan perkara baru. The Chinese has got no qualms about eating pork without having to share with the Malays. The Malays have got no qualms about the Chinese owning businesses and being successful at it. Tak ada masalah!

Dasar ekonomi baru tidak melihat kita merampas harta orang cina. Mereka masih boleh berniaga dan membeli harta di Malaysia. Orang melayu tidak sekejam itu, malah bagi orang melayu, rezeki mereka biarlah mereka simpan. Kita cari rezeki lain dan Dasar Ekonomi Baru sepatutnya membantu orang melayu mencari rezeki baru.

Tapi orang melayu silap. Dasar Ekonomi Baru, yang cuba memberi lantai yang sama rata bagi orang melayu bersaing dan berjaya seperti orang cina, tidak menyerapkan satu elemen yang terpenting - Kegigihan bekerja orang cina. Kaum Cina bukan semuanya berjaya, ada yang menjual VCD, ada juga yang menjadi gangster. Tetapi rata rata yng berjaya, semuanya kuat bekerja. Itulah sebenarnya kunci kejayaan kaum cina.

Sekiranya mana-mana pemimpin melayu sayangkan bangsanya, pukullah dan kerahlah rakyat melayu kamu untuk bekerja dengan kuat. Itulah khidmat yang paling baik untuk orang melayu.

Akan tetapi, pemimpin pemimpin melayu sekarang, bak Khairi, Mukriz, Pak Lah, Najib, Muhyiddin, Anwar seolah-olah terperangkap di dalam isu-isu retoric yang 'unreal'. Semua mendabik dada mengatakan aku yang terbaik untuk kamu maka pilihlah aku, tapi tidak ada seorangpun yang mengatakan:

Bangun lebih awal untuk bekerja (Tun Mahathir - mempercepatkan jam di Semenanjung 30 minit)

Masuk kerja tepat pada masanya (Tun Mahathir - memperkenalkan punch card)

Baca banyak banyak (Tun Mahathir - kempen galakan membaca)

PKR taking over Putrajaya? Going back to square one for PKR member and minus ten for the Malaysia

When the first hu-ha about PKR luring BN members to form the new Government, I wrote that the new PKR government will be a new BN, comprising BN members, worse still, BN members who could be bought with positions.

In the Star today (1/12/08), Anwar was reported to have offered Mohd Arif of Permatang Pauh the post of Penang's Deputy CM should he makes a 'lompatan katak' (frog jump).

Going by this rate, to lure 30 BN members means at least around 20 cabinet ministers. Hmmm.... BN leftovers in main cabinet. Not a good sign.

It amazes me that the self-proclaimed intelligent Malays, Chinese and Indian who supports PKR cannot see this blatant disaster coming. This is a case of 'the ends justifying the means'.

Thanks Pak Lah and the Opposition, you did wonders for UMNO

I for one am thankful for all this huha!

1. Without such anti-Mahathirsm displayed by Pak Lah, Tun Mahathir may not have been moved to lead the sentiment in ousting the inept PM. Objective one achieved.

2. Without such loud and blatant attack on the NEP, many tolerant and able bodied bumiputeras would have remained asleep, letting the system remain as it is (which have benefited many non-bumiputeras in various ways - why do you think Chinese businessmen of this country remained silent on this matter). Now the Malays are awake and began to look back at the deal they had. Especially the fencesitters like myself.

3. Without such huha about racial equality and Bangsa Malaysia, I would not have realized that the Bumiputeras have been overly accommodative in this matter. It made me realize what is superficial and what is real. Rhetorical talk about racial integration is superficial when you really have separate schools teaching separate cultures.

Oh yeah, if race is so not an issue with Pakatan Rakyat, why have Anwar as the leader? Lim Kit Siang was there all the while, barking loudly in parliament. Keep him as the leader then, he did no wrong. He had more experience as an opposition leader than Anwar. At least he did not messed up by making false claims of taking over the government - which is a major liability for the opposition, believe me. The Pakatan Rakyat wanna fight for first non-malay leader in a multiracial set-up? Then start in your own backyard first.

Lihat sendiri dalam isu Ex-Gratia. Kesimpulannya Hakim dipecat, wang rakyat disalah gunakan dan kekebalan atau imuniti Raja-raja Melayu dihapuskan dan terkini beliau menambah satu lagi peluru maut bila menyatakan secara terbuka sesiapa sahaja tak kira apa bangsa boleh menjadi PM di negara ini?

Jadi sekarang di manakah muka-muka pejuang-pejuang Melayu, Ahli-ahli UMNO, Pemimpin-pemimpin UMNO, Wartawan dan Blogger UMNO yang bersemangat Melayu dan sering melaung-laungkan Ketuanan Melayu, demi Melayu, demi Agama dan demi tanah airku. Kenapa anda semua diam..??

DES : Semalam Tun Mahathir telah membuat kenyataan yang agak mendebarkan perasaan setiap Melayu yang mendengarnya. Ramai yang gelabah dan gelisah mendengar pengucapan beliau berkenaan Perdana Menteri Malaysia di masa hadapan boleh menerima sesiapa sahaja asalkan beliau mendapat sokongan majoriti.

Apa yang perlu kita perhati dan perhalusikan di sebalik kenyataan beliau ialah penyatuan Melayu yang amat-amat diperlukan di saat sebegini. Beliau berkali-kali menegaskan sesiapa sahaja yang mempunyai sokongan majoriti akan layak secara automatik menjadi Perdana Menteri. Nah...setakat ini orang Melayu masih lagi memegang tampuk pemerintahan kerana kelebihan majoriti. Bukankah ini patut dikekalkan bagi mencapai kelangsungan kuasa. Ini juga merupakan peringatan kepada Melayu-melayu yang memperjuangkan hak-hak kesamarataan yang belum tahu apa akibatnya di masa hadapan.

Pesanan sinis ini harus dititikberatkan oleh Kaum Melayu yang telah terpecah kepada tiga kelompok sekarang hanya kerana ideologi politik masing-masing. Berbeza dengan Amerika Syarikat, mereka hanya panas ketika musim pilihanraya kemudiannya bersatu semula setelah selesai pilihanraya untuk mencapai objektif dan hala tuju negara tersebut tanpa mengira ideologi politik.

Fahami kenyataan beliau sedalam-dalamnya dan jangan hanya mentafsir pada permukaan sahaja...selami dan hayati maksud disebalik pengucapan beliau...Melayu harus dan wajib bersatu bagi memastikan kelangsungan kuasa ini kekal. Jika tidak.....

30% Bumiputera Equity?

1) It is a mean to an end, lest we lose focus and stop seeing the forest for the trees.

2) Is almost meaningless to the majority of the bumiputera.

3) A noble idea blatantly raped and misused.

4)Actually not that effective. Listed companies are required to allocate 30% shares to Bumis - which has to be approved by MITI. In many cases, there are no takers, for various reasons. In the end, MITI would allow for exemption/waiver as it (rightly) should not stall the growth of the capital market (where then everyone would lose). In other cases, bumiputera nominees are used. Fault lies with the Bumiputeras who have allowed themselves to be used.

5) This 30% bumiputera equity requirement is creating a huge wealth gap within the bumiputera community. The rich gets richer as only the rich can afford to buy million ringgit worth of shares (to be flipped later).

6) It is an easy political weapon (for some malay opportunistic leaders) and a convenient(and misplaced) item of animosity towards the bumpiuteras in general - the majority of whom do not get a whiff of this 30% stuff.

Bumiputera leaders should not allow themselves or their communities to be dragged by this hugely misunderstood and outdated mode of upgrading the wealth of the Bumiputeras. Be creative and come up with something better!

Datuk Shah Rukh Khan

Tun Mahathir defended the award of Datukship to Shah Rukh Khan in his blog chedet.com. My comments to his statement were:

Tun, back to the issue at hand. The Shah Rukh Khan Datukship.

I too thought of it as a joke when I first heard about it. But I think this is due to several factors, namely :
(1) The background of the award was not properly explained prior to the announcement. Which is the case for nearly all awards really in this country, but some we can easily identify by virtue of their position in the government and how successful they are. In this regard, I blame the State of Melaka. Knowing very well that this is out of the ordinary and that most of the righteous 'upperclass' loudmouth do not enjoy Bollywood movies (nor local Malay movies for that fact), preemptive effort to explain must have been done. It would have avoided this fiasco.

(2) Undeniably, in the past, the Datukship has been awarded to shady characters and rumours have been going around that one can buy Datukships. Therefore, when one cannot immediately identify the normal reason for the award, people would fall on this assumption. If there has been no doubt on the credibility of all those awarded a datukship (e.g. the knighthood etc), then people would only assume merit.

We have to remedy BOTH to maintain the credibility of Datukship.

How dumb can you get MCA?

Ong Ka Ting says UMNO too dominant. Duuuhhhh It is like saying 10 is bigger than 1 and claiming it is wrong!

In one of his hardest hitting policy speeches in his five years as party president, Ong pointed out that these perceptions had continued against the Barisan even seven months after the March 8 general election because most of the issues had not been resolved.

United stand: Ong raising Abdullah’s hand to jointly acknowledge the applause from central delegates at the MCA assembly yesterday. Looking on are Najib and outgoing MCA deputy president Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy.

[I remember when Tun declared his resignations, party members cried, but when Abdullah and Ong resigned - people applauded!]

“The situation is worsened when the public have the perception that the power sharing within Barisan is actually not effective or fair.

“Umno is seen as a party that is far more dominant than other component parties,” he said.

[Duuhhhhh UMNO represents the majority of the citizens of Malaysia - the Malays. Of course it would be dominant. UMNO would be an imbecile should it not be dominant in a country dominated by Malays. I do not see Chinese based parties being dominant in India, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philipines, Australia etc. Basic maths idiot! Neither would I cry fouls that the Malay based parties are not dominant in Singapore]

Ong identified the unresolved issues as:

> Corruption and misuse of power by politicians and government officers; [UMNO is kicking out Abdullah and Khairy, aren't they. What are you guys doing?]

> Arrogance of Barisan politicians who are also deemed to be racist; [are you implying the Malay politicians here??? The audacity!]

> Security and rising crime rate;

> The increase in the price of goods and higher cost of living following higher fuel prices; [ Hahhaha a fucking joke when the entire world is experiencing the same. Tu la, Tun cakap peg the ringgit tak mau dengar!]

> Lack of religious freedom; [ Bullshit!]

> Unfair treatment by Government department and agencies against non-bumiputra petty traders and businessmen; and

> Lack of Government support for vernacular schools. [Bullshit! This is the main reason for the failures of racial integration. We should all go to the same school, then only talk about racial integration!]

On corruption, Ong said: “Those entrusted to hold this trust seemed to have broken the trust of the people. There is also a very negative perception towards the non-transparent manner in the awarding of government contracts.

“There were also some politicians who became very wealthy not long after holding a party position or being made local councillors.”

On arrogance, the seventh MCA president said the people felt disgusted and angry that a handful of Barisan politicians had been arrogant and made statements or speeches that were racially-motivated.

On religious freedom, Ong said: “The handling of religious issues by the authorities often shows that the freedom of religion is not practised as stated by government leaders including the Prime Minister.” [We do not conform to Islam Hadhari - dah Dinginhari]

On the unfair treatment of non-bumiputras in terms of dealings with the Government, he said they felt frustrated and constrained and feel they are not being treated fairly in the issuance of licences, permits, loans or tender opportunities.

“The authorities seem to enjoy using excuses of government economic policies based on prejudicial interpretation and narrow-minded thinking.”

Ong said the implementation of affirmative economic policies should not sideline any party or persons.

He said the execution of these policies should not limit any trader or investor who was trying to expand his or her own business or investment by his or own effort.

“The time has come when the Government must liberalise all its economic policies to enable Malaysia to be truly competitive,” he said.

On Umno’s dominance, Ong said the situation had to be set right through a process that truly involved the participation of all component parties.

“Every important decision must be decided together and not be viewed as though Umno alone determines important policies while other parties are then requested to later defend the policies based on the so-called Barisan spirit.

“The power-sharing slogan is often spoken of but it is still seen as just lip service,” he said at the 55th MCA Convention at Dewan San Choon at Wisma MCA here yesterday.

[Since you mention power sharing, shall we talk about wealth sharing. Umno obtained its power by the inherent majority of the Malays. Chinese are wealthy because the majority is wealthier than the Malays due to Colonial professional segregation.]

Ong said the points raised in his speech were gathered from feedback from the ground.

He said Barisan should be deeply concerned with the disquiet or unhappiness among the rakyat.

“Meanwhile, political critics have been spinning half truths to confuse the rakyat and have raised many doubts among them,” he said.

Ong said the use of the Internal Security Act recently against those who did not pose security threats to the nation had brought about a very negative impact on the Government.

“The Act is obsolete and should be replaced with one that is not subject to abuse or causes people to feel insecure,” he said.

It appears that (for the time being) Kelantan is the bastion of Khairy's grassroot support. However, that assumption is tainted by insinuations of money politics, in other words, setia-kat-wang. As in the case of Tun Mahathir's nomination to the Umno General Assembly a few years back, everybody talks about there being money politics, yet no one stepped forward to provide proof.

Machang, upon nominating Khairy, may feel that it was a hero of sort. Giving Khairy the media coverage needed by Khairy to carry his momentum. As to why Machang voted for Khairy is beyond me as nearly everyone I spoke to mentions Khairy in the most unfavorable terms. When the results came out, I spoke to a veteran and esteemed lady and the first word that came out of her mouth was "donngo!", loosely translated as dungu.

Pemuda Machang which brands itself as Pemuda Mache has come a long way during the tenure of Sazmi Miah. It had the firepower , passion and vigour of a young political group, providing life and strength to any UMNO occasion and keeping the enemies at bay during elections. It is seen as a happy-go-lucky yet fiercely loyal group of Pemuda. And until recently, I thought it has some brains.

What has it become now? The independent, smart and passionate 'hero' is fast turning itself into a lame duck. Pemuda Mache needs to reinvent itself in the light of the current Mukhriz's tsunami. Pemuda Mache had gambled, and you had lost. Whoever put you up to this doesn't have your interest at heart, more like his own personal political agenda. But guess who is gonna pay the price - you, not him!
